Fascinating new experiments using paper clips are described, which all teachers will surely enjoy. They can be done safely, cheaply and easily with little preparation, by all ages, at school or in the home, using simple, widely available, inexpensive, ceramic block magnets, covered in tape.

Paper clips are often used to illustrate the power of magnets. However, their amazing potential for demonstrating the power of magnetic fields and how natural forces can be balanced, seems to have been overlooked.

The experiments illustrated have only just emerged following extensive research by the Magic Penny Trust into the educational value of magnetic coins.   As an introduction, similar amazing images with a much more expensive horseshoe magnet, are shown. Teaching notes will follow.
